Sunday, July 30, 2006 3:50 PM - No more E3?

Looks like. Well that'd suck the big cock. The funny part is I wasn't too keen on going again next year anyway. Guess That's it I suppose. I am glad to have gone, it was something I've wanted to do since I was a kid. Ah well. There's always PAX.

Edit: Haha, Chromehounds 4 realies.

Friday, July 28, 2006 8:59 PM - 99 bottles of nights on the wall

The 99 Nights demo just hit XBLM. Downloading as I type, I suggest you do the same. This really is the best feature of a 360. The marketplace is a great way to try out games without renting stuff. Then so often you get a game before release. It's shiggy.

Also anyone know where I can pick up an import or modded PS2 in Toronto? Switching discs and that magic disc attachment is a pain in the butt. I needs my Naruto 3!

Thursday, July 27, 2006 5:54 AM - So...

No comic this week. Check back Monday.

Sunday, July 23, 2006 5:48 PM - Victory and life to Morksoj!

So Chromehounds. Let me just say first the single player missions are more of a distraction than fun. It's there to teach you how to play and that's about it. I really didn't find it enjoyable. Online however is another matter entirely.

This is where the game shines. You take part in a GLOBAL war with all the other CH players. Choose a country, vote for leaders, form squads, build mechs, and fight the war. The depth they've added is really quite impressive.

After every war you've got the option to vote on a new leader. I'm assuming it has to do with strategics. I just vote on who looks the silliest. Still it's the first time I've seen anything like this. As well to winning these wars it falls directly on you to help take over new land or defend your own.

Before you set out with a squad you've got to make your mech. OH MY GOD there is SO much customization. It is totally up to you on how to make you mech. What parts you want, the configuration, how the weapons are to be used, paint job, and even custom decals you can place anywhere. You're given a chance to make a Hound that is truly your own.

Me? I've gone through a few mech designs called "Johnny's". After Short Circuit of course. Heavy fighters with Armageddon bringing guns, Small scouts, to my latest Johnny 2.3 a bipedal mech with heat seekers. Of course it's got big red smoochy lips on the front as a decal. Hot Pink too!

Technically the game is just a visual treat to watch. Explosion effects and the detail of the Hounds themselves look fantastic in HD. The controls for the wheel based hounds could be tighter but, on the whole the controls handle well.

So in all Single player teh suck. Multiplayer teh good.

Friday, July 21, 2006 2:48 PM - Animu

I'll be at Northern Anime this Saturday from 12pm - 3pm with a panel at 1pm. That's up in Oshawa which is about an hour from TO. Directions over heya.

In other news the Superman movie is prty kewl. Then again I saw it in 3D and you know how shiny things impress me. I'll talk more on Chromehounds after more play. So far soooo gewd.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006 11:49 PM - Mr. Marley

Snap on toast, it's a little character background! Wrote this one ages ago to be used in something since not being made anymore. Anyway, plop.

Saw Pirates of the caribean 2 the other day. I thought the ol' Grumpy Gamer was being well.. Grumpy with his Monkey Island movie rant, but man. He wasn't kidding. Hell, VOODOO LADY! It was highly enjoyable until the end. I won't ruin it but I wasn't happy.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006 4:12 AM - THF LFG PLZ.. I have sneak!

I'd buy it. The really sad thing is I haven't played FFXI in AGES(almost a year), however... I don't have the heart to delete my character. Being a high level thief/ninja it was a hard long road to level up. Lots of love put into it! But yeah, FFXI sequel is most favorable. It's the style of the game I love and why I can never get into any other MMOs.

Edit: Bleh, looks like it's not gonna happen. Ignore this post entirely.

Or take a look at a game that's actually being made. Simply amazing. I love how Valve has this ability to actually innovate an FPS. That genre being the most over done ever.

Friday, July 14, 2006 4:54 AM - Toobz

I really have been rather silent on the subject of net neutrality. Let me just say this. Jon Stewart is my hero. This one is a little old but still fun. I should be more worried about this stuff because it affects me directly but, I'm not. These things have a way of working themselves out. Like when Napster went. Thus ending file sharing forever. What I'm saying is, there'll always be another option.

Edit: Got my shit back for 360. Mother fudger that was FAST. Product may not work right but at least they're mighty quick about support. Good show.

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 5:48 PM - Kaputski

I picked up a 360 before I went down last week. The market place is fun as is Hitman and Dynasty Warriors. I think I'll go play that right now... OH WAIT IT'S FUCKING BROKEN.

That's right, not even a month and my 360 is showing 3 red flashing lights, which means a hardware failure. Specifically the power supply in this case. Urgh... As long as it gets shipped here before 99Nights I'll be happy. This is still very much infuriating.

Monday, July 10, 2006 5:01 AM - OUS! 1, 2, 3, GO!

Hotels that can't do FTP are the bane of my existence. Anyway, put 'em all together now that I'm back home. Gonna take some time to get the next one up. Then back on a regular schedule. :p Playing catch-up week to week sucks.

Anyway I'm all back from being stateside. Thanks to the guys at PortCon and a special thanks to everyone at Connecticon. Mad props to the game room which was exceptional this year courtesy of Best Buy. Sorry I had to run out Sunday, but I had to get back to the great white north. Which is the great hot north at the moment.

I really do want to list all the web comics that attended but it's a big list. Really glad to finally meet people like Greg and Liz. Thanks again to Shawn for letting me crash at his place. I'll kick your butt in Naruto some more later!

Speaking of imports. I also picked up two new DS games while I was there. Bleach DS and OUENDAN! Bleach so needs a FAQ to play. The other one however is oodles of fun. It kept me busy while waiting for planes and in the air. Then again I love J-Pop. The level of difficulty from song to song blows my mind. But when you get it right it feels so good.

I'll post some of the goodies I got later, right now I need to catch a few hours of sleep before I go pick up Ronin from my parents. Also, happy Birthday Dad.

Tuesday, July 4, 2006 1:39 AM - BOOO!

I'm out of the country right now and stayin' at Shawn's place while I do cons. The Canadian thing and all. Canada Day in the states, OH WOE IS I. Anyway.. Connecticon is the next one this weekend. Always a favorite.

So here are some short comics made to make you groan and boo. Since I've been meaning to do more of these for a while now. Check back Thursday and Saturday for the next two cheesy comics.

Edit: It's up. I love trying to make these lame jokes. It makes me giggle.

Friday, June 23, 2006 9:22 AM - Haggis McMutton

Few con reminders. PortConMaine next week and Connecticon after that.

Later this year I'm taking a trip to Scotland. I'll be at Auchinawa while I'm there. This 'ill probably my only UK appearance ever.

Ah Futurama, I've missed you.

Wednesday, June 21, 2006 5:05 PM - 3D Bums

A special treat from the good folks at EA Maxis and Spore.

Thank you so much. Now get back to making the game! ;)

Edit: Also I'm retarded. There's a 4CR Interview up too.

Monday, June 19, 2006 12:46 PM- There's a 200?

Just so you don't feel cheated the 200th is taking a bit. So instead of missing an update, here ya go. But there will be one.

Also my buddy Ryan at least I could do has the new Bra-Man comic out. Should undergarments interest you!

Edit: On a fathers day note I'd just like to say my dad scares me sometimes. In a good way though. For as far back as I can remember he's loved magic tricks but, it wasn't until the past year that he found out you can buy them on E-Bay. Since then he's upgraded to tricks as well.

Exploding wallets (yes with real fire), buzzers with high voltage electricity, trap gum dispensers, and all manner of fart gadgets. Who does he test these tricks on? His family of course! Yes, I've become a guinea pig for the latest thing designed to scare the crap out of you. It's made me fearful over anything offered by him. "Here hold this pen!" "Will it blow up?" Etc..

He's always been a prankster however and it makes us laugh. Even the lame jokes. It's just one of those quirks that makes him special. Happy Fathers Day Dad!

Saturday, June 17, 2006 8:11 PM - Dot Hax0rz

Fans of the GU trailer will get a kick out of this Keroro Gunso Parody.
There's also a newish trailer up. Heck a search on You Tube and you'll find a good amount of killer cinematics. That is if you want to spoil it a bit.

Me I've been reading up a bit on the Wiki since the plot for these games has always been a bit involved and cross media. So I don't mind a spoiler or two.

Thursday, June 15, 2006 1:41 AM - Ed kisses all the boys

To say there were script problems would be an understatement.
I wasn't happy with the way the comic was turning out so I scrapped it. The new stuff just wouldn't fit as cannon. So on Tuesday I just said fuck it, and made this one. Shame too. I'll probably readapt some of the jokes. Since I loved the Phoenix Wright stuff.

THIS IS WHY I DON'T DO STORIES.

Thursday, June 8, 2006 6:43 PM - Boredom killers.

Few fun vids,
Ouendan! Yo, BOSS! Live, Monkey Island piano, WWE Smash Brothers, and my favorite line from KH2. :p

4CR made this pretty spifft DS buyers guide. Should this interest you.

Also the Comixpedia interview is up. I try not to sound too much like an ass when doing interviews. But it's hard when you are one.

Lastly congrats daddy Pierre and mommy Karine!

Edit: Boner get!

Monday, June 5, 2006 6:01 PM - Smashy, smashy!

So apperently two dollars in change is worth breaking
into a car for. Lovely. Don't spend it all in one place, shithead! Not that bums have the internet or could ever read this. I just like to vent. Now to find a new window.

Oh and..
I will not be at Otakuthon this weekend. Very sorry but I'm so short on time at the moment. Other obligations have to come first. First time I've ever had to cancel a convention and I don't intend to ever again. So my deepest apologies.

And while I'm talking about cons. I'm told the cut off date for cheap Connecticon tickets is coming up real soon. A crafty consumer would savage this like a car window. I'm bad at analogies.

Saturday, June 3, 2006 2:47 AM - Episode .5

Well, Half-Life 2 : Episode One is mighty short.
Nothing new either. Just all the same old levels you played in the first one. More of a story developing game than fun. I'd say skip it if you can get a synopsis.

If you enjoy the story go ahead and get it, just be prepared to not get your moneys worth. Even if it's $20. $10 I think on steam. There's already a "leaked" trailer for Two. (spoilers) I'll still buy that too.

Good thing I also picked up the New Mario Bros while I was there. Because I'd be without game! I'd look the fool. Tales of my defeat in multiplayer however have been GREATLY EXAGGERATED. *whimper*

Thursday, June 1, 2006 2:54 AM - Hex'd!

Hey I know that's not a full pentagram. It's called taking liberties for a joke. I knew I'd receive emails on that. What I didn't know was that I'd get hate mail from Wiccans. Pentagram being of some importance and non satanic. Sorry if there's offence, I didn't think brooms got DSL.

If you are having problems veiwing the comic just refresh your browser. It's the comic code struggling to work on a server it can't. We'll be switching layouts soon anyway.

Thanks again to the staff of Anime North for being so accommodating and helping out so much. It was a great weekend. I can say that I'm confirmed for Otakon. Thanks a lot to Jes for being so awesome. I'll more than likely be doing a panel there. More as I know it.

And hey, Comixpedia. Should have more on that later.

RE-Edited: Bleargh. Posted too many emails. Lets just say that the Pentacle and Pentagram are different.
Case closed!

Saturday, May 27, 2006 2:31 AM - Anime North

Yikes.. Anime North is much bigger than I expected. Still Two more days guys. Come on down and say hi! I'll be doing a panel Saturday in the "Toronto Panel 1" room on the second floor at the hotel. It's at 1pm, see ya there!

Edit: Thank you EVERYONE for coming. It was a blast!

Thursday, May 25, 2006 3:07 PM - No draw the funny.

Anyone know where a guy can get a sketch book in downtown Toronto? I'm flat out of paper.
Curry's on Yonge, got it. Thanks!

Oh and yeah I have seen this PSP Sucks vid too. Told ya this stuff was fake. :)

Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:03 AM - Urgh..

Scott: Watching the Smash Brothers trailer, again...
Scott: This is like the 50th time.
Scott: I think I have a problem.
Xeres: ...You have a few.

Bleargh.. flu.. going into warm bed... Zzzzz...

Edit: Thanks to "Lazydave" for this animated version. Also Ridge Luthor!

Sunday, May 21, 2006 12:50 PM - Torontocon 86'

Just a reminder for those in the Toronto area. I'll be at Anime North this weekend (May 26th-28th), doing panels and signing corporate merchiganda. I'll be there all weekend.

Also because I can walk there. I'll breifly be at Exim Con on June 24th down by Dundas.

It's looking like I won't be at CN Anime this year folks. Most sorry. So it's these or bust!

Sunday, May 21, 2006 0:00 AM - Lawls.

I saw that the Nintendo DS sux on the radio, folks. Lawls, troll. Really I don't think it's real guys. LOOK IT UP. LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE.

Oh and I forgot to mention in the E3 wrap up how much fun Justice League Heroes was. Because hot damn. Like X-Men Legends only it's in the DC universe. Plus any game where you can beat up citizens with a car is 'O.K.' in my book. Can't wait to get that when it comes out.

Friday, May 19, 2006 2:28 PM - Fight giant crabs

Riiiiiidge RACER! There's even a petition. XD

Guest comics!
Brothers in harms from Alpha Shade.
PS3 stuffs from Alex Anderson.
OMG porn from Mayuzane.
Some FLCL art from Rob & Elliot.
Rydas from Hellbound

Sure I got more but I'm so bad at archiving this stuff. @_@

Monday, May 15, 2006 9:32 PM - E3

Okay I'm totally back. Sweet Jebus that was one of the longest weeks ever. So much driving, flying, and generally not sleeping. Spent Moma's Day at my Mom's after getting back from Ohio and LA. Have you at least phoned your mom yet? Do so! Love ya mom.

Last E3 could not have gone more smooth. Can't say the same for this one. Just a lot of stress points that hampered the enjoyment. The fun time that was had was great. Hung out with Shawn, Jo, and Devin for the most part. When of course some people aren't leaving thier cell phones in taxicabs in a city wide search. HMMM?

Met up with a bunch of fans too. Apologies to 4CR for not being able to make the meet up. Just too hectic! Said a quick Hi to Tycho again. This could only be done by cutting in the massive line of fans. Speaking of massive lines. Did you see the one for Wii? I would not be surprised if there were at least 5000 people in there. The only place they wouldn't allow it to wrap around was the Sony booth. Duh.

I wasn't about to spend my entire trip in a line. So no, missed the Wii. Not that I wouldn't spend the whole time hearing from those who DID play it. Thanks to Vic for trying to sneak me in but, I had a plane to catch. Did a quick interview for their show while I was down there too.

And a big thanks to my Brazilian friend Gabe (and a hi to Mel who couldn't make it) for sparing the time to say Hi. Always love getting the chance to talk to him. Such insight in into the industry it's amazing.

Fun shit I played while I was there? Dirge of Cerberus, which felt a lot like devil may cry. Only with a crapy FPS element thrown in there. You do however limit break. Final Fantasy XII, if you played the demo you've played this. Final Fantasy III, plays like the old one except in 3D. And Slime, just weird. Yeah I was all about the Squenix.

Played all the new DS titles like Mario (again), Zelda, Yoshi's Island 2, and Starfox. Starfox was so alpha version it's not even funny but at least it flies well. Zelda is going to be a BLAST when it comes out. Multiplayer too!

Over at 360 it was 99 Nights (OMG FUN) and Splinter Cell Double Agent. Can't think of how many hours I've spent with the last SC. This one will be no different.

Over on the PC side, Prey is shaping up to be one hell of a multiplayer game. Gravity floors really do add an all new element of strategy to the gameplay. Just need some more weapons.

So much it's hard to remember it all. Oh and my last post naturally sparked a lot of mail. Sending me links like this. I'm not going to retract what what I said. Send me all the links you want. It still won't change the fact that the tech was added very last minute, and wouldn't have been there if the Wii controller wasn't what it is.

ANYWAY. The best thing at the show wasn't a game I played. It was a trailer. The brand new Super Smash Brother Brawl. Now staring Pit, Metaknight (personal fav), Wario, and Zero Suit Samus. I'm sure there will be more characters to unlock when it actually launches. The best part is of course that the title now includes ALL off my favorite franchises. Since this one will have the one and only, Solid Snake.

Also a big thanks to Randy and Ryan over at Blind Ferret. I'll have some fan comics to put up for this week. New comic next week. TIME TO REST.

Monday, May 8, 2006 11:03 PM - Originality

Ah Sony, where ripping off the competition a business model. So it's going to be wireless with a motion sensor. Golly. Breaking some new ground here! If only you could rip-off something like the Wii's price.

Also before I get any angry emails about Sony hating. The analog stick and the rumble pack were not Sony firsts. So do hush up. Honestly, I get accused of hating every system so much that I really don't care at this point. I go where the games are.

Such a long week. I'll get the comic done before my trip to E3. Of which I'll be playing the Plagiarize Station 3 and hopefully it's sexy MGS4.

In other site news the Pantsman shirt is looking like a one time run. Get it now or never. Because it's gone when the presale is over. PS. HOT DICKINGS.

Thursday, May 4, 2006 10:19 PM - Presale

Thar be a presale going. We've got two new designs in the store for your shirty needs. Finally a Pantsman shirt and of course the F-Bomb. Since it's a preorder, popularity of the shirt will keep it in the store. If it isn't popular then it's gone for good.

On a personal note I'm all moved in and OMG tired. First order of business was naturally to get my computer setup. Currently typing this newspost on the cheapest desk known to man. Really, there a screws sticking up where my hands should go.

Went and got all my furniture today but, until it's delivered.. It's air mattresses and cut up arms. This desk is making me look emo! This new mattress I got is like ten thousand baby bottoms all covered in kitten fur. Soft. The view is very nice from here. I'll get a nice shot from the roof sometime. Also Ro says hi.

Monday, May 1, 2006 0:33 AM - Toronto

Not the comic I wanted to do but it can't be helped. I'll probably do that one next week. Moving to Toronto tomorrow and between that and other stuff I haven't had too much free time. Rooming up with my good buddy Khuffie. Sthlumber parties and gothip, oh my!

I'll probably do a meet up thing there at some point since I well.. Know hardly anyone there. But that's the fun part about going somewhere new. Learn the fun places to go, etc..

BACK TO PACKIN'! (fudge lolwtfhax)

Edit: Did a server switch the other day. If you have problems veiwing the archives just flush your cache. Also, Rat-flail shirt for Oblivion. Lawls.

Thursday, April 27, 2006 - Nobody messes with Adam Wii

This has to be a joke. Good lord... Nintendo.. just.. No. I'm sure this sounded just awesome in Japan but, I don't want to play with my Wee!

Edit: Hey, hey there's an animated version of this PSP comic. Thanks Brandon!

Edit: You know the more I think about it, the name Wii is genius. I don't think there's a videogame message board (or news site for that matter) out there where this isn't the topic of discussion. You poor moderators.

Wednesday, April 26, 2006 4:37 PM - Teh movies

So how about that Silent Hill? Went to see that with Dan the other day and I must say, wait for the DVD. I am by no means a fan of this series but the acting and writing is ungodly bad. Seriously. You'll laugh at it more than anything. The scenes when the alarm sound however are pretty awesome. Just too bad you've got to wait through Officer Poutylips and the dumb little kid before seeing them. But yeah, don't waste your money on this.

Monday, April 24, 2006 10:30 PM - I suck so much

Urgh... Gonna crash. Comic tomorrow. I can't belive I forgot to draw that frame.

Edit:All done and I must say if you're playing Kingdom Hearts 2. SKIP THIS LEVEL. It's worthless unless you want the super secret ending. I'm sure you can find that on your own if you really want to.

I'm probably so late on finding this. There's a Kingdom Hearts fan game called, Inverted Hearts. Demo is pretty bland but it looks promising. Countdown until the kibosh is on.

Friday, April 21, 2006 8:00 AM - When babies attack

Hot pixel action abound. It's a movie designed to look like a Street or Rage or a Metal Slug type game. Very weird yet awesome watch. Thanks to Ed for the find. The style reminds me a lot like this stuff. I really do have to try that tutorial some day.

Edit: Looks like we wanged the site. You guys are getting good at this. His main site is over here.

Tuesday, April 18, 2006 12:23 PM - Linking stuff

Lady robots, persacons aren't that far off. Captain N DVDs umguh! The Movies.. movie called Fucked by a chicken. Lazer cats! And lookie, it's Jump Superstars style game for your consoles called Battle Stadium. :D

Now comicy links. I am informed Theater Hopper is releasing their first book. Galaxy Kid is a site to check out for the art alone. I freaking LOVE this style to death. This is just plain funny.

Monday, April 17, 2006 1:11 AM - Greetings programs.

So How about that Kingdom Hearts 2. It's funny how I went from not liking this game to loving it in a heart beat. I can tell you a few points where this happened too. The first is when Auron appears and fights with you. The second and the the point it won me over was of course TRON.

One of my favorite movies and it translated so well into the game. Probably because they got freaking Bruce Boxleitner to do the voice. :D I actually found myself rewatching the movie after playing it. Hell, I've even got a Tron pop-up book. Total nerd out.

Key differences that help and hinder this game from the last one. The first being exp orbs. These things are now added automatically and evenly distributed. THANK GOD. Another is of course your alternate modes. You can switch into these modes by use of a drive system and party members. As in you need Donald for Wisdom mode and Goofy for Valor. Which is a pain because I freaking can't stand Goofy.

The one complaint I have with it are the scripted battles you get into. Where the action stops and you enter what looks like a random encounter. It just breaks up the pace too much. Not that the endless cut-scenes don't either but, they're fun to watch sometimes.

I REALLY wish I played it on something besides normal. Game is way too easy on this setting. But that's my fault really. The game is a great addition to the series and fans will certainly enjoy it.

END OF LINE

Thursday, April 13, 2006 7:57 AM - Conventions!

Added a few cons to my schedule recently. The first is Anime North this this May(26th to 28th). Huge thanks to them for being so accommodating and fitting me in so late. That'll be in Toronto and I'll do the whole guest thing there.

The next is Otakuthon in June (10th). That will be in one of the nicest cities in Canada, Montreal. That I've been to anyway. I still need to do visit the west coast sometime.

Then PortConMaine which is in.. well.. Maine. That's June 30th to July 2nd and again will be doing the guest thing and sitting in on some panels. Thanks again to them for having me.

But before all that I'll be headed down to E3 this May. Just an attendee (duh). If you're going and want to meet up, get in contact with me. I can't guarantee I'll get a signal in that place. What with the download stations, thousands of wifi networks, and thick cement walls; but it's worth a try.

Monday, April 10, 2006 6:47 AM - Hmmm..

So hey, SA did this Megaman thing that's pretty funny. Though I know I've seen it before... Still funny.

Edit: For the international viewers. The PSP ads. Been meaning to do this comic for a while now and just forgot to. Until a TV spot reminded me. Almost used that word but decided against it. Just can't.

Saturday, April 8, 2006 10:48 PM - Shitty movies

Uwe Boll reminds me in a lot of ways like a more paranoid Nixon. This interview in particular. Where the walls are speaking about him! Those people on the internets are all conspiring. It's not that his movies are horrible, no, they hate him!

Part of it is true. It's not entirely his fault he makes bad movies. If I've got a shitty videogame license to sell I'd get a shitty director too. There is however no excuse for his own incompetence. I'm sorry Boll, you've got no talent. Deal with it.

Back to playing Kingdom Hearts 2. The game of course. Not say.. The sex toy. (much)

Hey I'm dumb and made a legit myspace. That's actually me. Can't say I'll use it but it saves from fake ones. I'll add anyone, I'm such an easy sult!

Tuesday, April 4, 2006 4:33 PM - Getting old.

Forgetful doesn't even BEGIN to describe me. Urgh. Suppose to go down to Space today and do a small interview. Naturually I thought it was for Friday. So dumb am I. Well I'll be making THIS one at least.

That is I'll be doing a radio interview thing on Wednesday 8pm central on Fearless. I'm told you can call in during the show. Be there or be elsewhere!

Edit: The show is still going on... just wanged their site. Apologies.
EditEdit: Site is back up and the interview is all done. It'll be on podcast later this week. Thanks again to the boys over there for having me.

Monday, April 3, 2006 7:04 PM - What?

Ever since I did this comic I've got so many damn requests for almost everything. If I like something I'll probably parody it. If I don't... well.

Two more linkies. MGS Megaman and Zelda DS. :D

Monday, April 3, 2006 2:20 AM - Holy crap.

Hey, it's not live action!

Sunday, April 2, 2006 3:20 AM - Oops..

I alway forget that my family reads these news posts too. Or maybe I just try and forget they even come here. It makes seeing them less akward.

I'm fine. Pain is gone and I'm back to almost normal. Sorry to make ya worry. Thanks for phoning non-stop. @_@ And for the love of God don't read the comics. I don't want you to think I'm mentally ill as well. Here read some Garfield, it's pretty much the same thing I promise.

Oh and first impressions on KH2. That being the after the hours of prologue. Honestly? I liked the first one better. I don't know why but the pace seems slowed. I may end up changing this opinion. We'll see! I am glad I played Chain of Memories first.

Thursday, March 30, 2006 3:03 PM - Bleargh.

Just got back. This me Wed through Thrus. Kidney stones. Lovely.. On the plus side I did get KH2. Sweet Jebus it has one long ass friggin' prolouge.

Here's some links fer ya. Brand new BFM and a awesome 3D MGS Rex. Complete with wang gun. For now, sleep.

Wednesday, March 29, 2006 10:23 AM - I SO EMO

I was by no means fishing for compliments but I do thank everyone for all the kind words. :) You guys rock. Really though, I'm fine. Admittedly waking up to a mailbox full of nice things was quite a welcome surprise.

What I need to do is pick me up some Kingdom Hearts 2... Without a preorder. To the automobile! Also the Godfather game is quite fun (thanks Nix). I'll post more on it once I've had a chance to really play it.

Art is over here too since I really like how it turned out.

Thursday, March 23, 2006 3:59 AM - Birthday suit

So the new PS3 is going to be region free
. About damn time! Importing just became a whole lot easier. Damn magic swap pain in the ass bull poop.

Also Dragon Ball Z and One piece in a wierd 5 screen dealie. Watch the top screen here, and the other two over here.

And a huge thanks to my little sister for the most awesome birthday gift ever*. Random encounters here I come!

(ps. Thanks in advance to anyone for birthday greets but lets not flood the old inbox, kay? :3)

Monday, March 20, 2006 11:43 PM - It's still Monday.

Under the wire
, bitches. Backgrounds are the bane of my existence. Back to Guitar Hero as I am quite drained in all respects.

Sunday, March 19, 2006 8:09 PM - We built this city.

Instead of say.. drawing I've been playing Guitar Hero until my eyes told me to take a break. They don't like to bleed you see. God I love this game. I know how late I am on the whole bandwagon too. Here's why...

Dave: Hey get Guitar Hero it's really fun!
Scott: No way I hate fun!

Dave: Just try it.
Scott: Nuuuuuu. *fart*

2 Months later.

Scott: Holy shit this game is fun.
Dave: ...
Scott: Why didn't I learn this sooner!
Dave: *kills*
Scott: Bleargh my life!
Dave: *with his penis*
Scott: And my dignity!

Etc...
Point being more people need this game. Even if you hate rythm games, the way it does it you'll love it. GOOD NIGHT CANADA!

Edit: Oh yeah, MGS3:S video. Hilarious.

Friday, March 17, 2006 2:09 AM - What are these footsteps doing here?

Been playing a lot of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence this past day. I must say, I freaking love it. Metal Gear has always been one of my favorite series. Right up there with Zelda and Mario. There wasn't enough features to make me buy the last expansion. But when I heard they were taking the experince online I flipped.

Finally with the addition of a third person camera the game has a much more natural feel to it. This is only amplified while battling out online. There are your 4 basic modes. Deathmatch(team too), capture the frog, rescue, and my favorite, sneak. My favorite because it's you as snake against real people as guards. Complete with the ability to "!".

The disc also includes the original MSX games, Metal Gear and Solid Snake. It's so much fun to see where the series started and how well it holds up even now. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch more stuff but I havn't had time to play it all.

If you're a fan of the series you OWE it to yourself to get this game. Hell, it's only $30 to boot! You'll know me if you see me online (Snake Server). I'm the guy who can't figure out lower caps. :P

Wednesday, March 15, 2006 7:17 PM - Gleeeeeeeeeeee

I just wet myself a little.

I've never been so glad that I'm going to E3 this year. I don't know how they'll out do last years booth. It was quite an experience. Light sensitive floor that rippled like water, the look, the feel, and the freaking wolf! I suppose the fact that it's on the FREAKING REVOLUTION will do. :D

Tuesday, March 15, 2006 12:52 AM - Back in Oh Canada

So I'm back home after a nice relaxing week, and with a comic! .. Finally. I LOVE how the art turned out. If you caught me at Digital Overload you probably saw me colouring it. That or playing with these foolish peoples at Smash Bros (badly), Guitar Hero(even worse at it), or Starcraft(I sux).

The whole event was so much fun. No problems what so ever with the network. Considering the large attendance that's no easy feat. The guys at Ni and the event organizers did such an amazing job bringing it all together. Totally recommend this thing for next year. Big congrats to Tim for his first year. Thanks for having me!

Pictures and whatnot over here. Random youtubeness; Every MK3 finisher and Captain freaking N! The game master. :D Oh and the FFXII intro.

ps. And a special thanks to a very special person who I also got to see this week. ;)
Thursday, March 9, 2006 8:14 PM - Ken <3

Just a quick update before I head out to DO way too easrly. Stupid planes and not bending thier will to me. I WILL DESTROY THEM. Anyhooooo...

Press Start to Play is showing some love. Always funny. Attack of the 40ft transformer. Kill Bill Mario. Can you make dolls more girly? Yes, yes you can. Cross play Ken is the bomb.

Looks like Bleach is getting licensed. Good timing too, since it just wrapped up a killer arc and is now in filler. I'm sure somone will still sub it though. Even better timing the skipea arc in One Piece is going strong. It's the only one to watch now sadly. Damn shitty Naruto filler. I miss that series, I really do. </rant>

Monday, March 6, 2006 12:13 AM - Dear livejournal

Mood: Glee!
Current Music: Stan Bush : The Touch

I really do love the art in disgaea so, so much. Thanks a LOT for the book :D

NOW I HAVE TO ATTEND AN INTERGALACTIC PEACE CONFERENCE. or Digital Overload... EITHER OR. Oh hey, more simpsons.

Edit: A reader was awesome enought to send this link in. I WANT.

Edit: I need to stop doing these edits. But this is pretty weird. Bleach Rock opera. More here.

Thursday, March 2, 2006 1:58 PM - Link-o-rama!

This spore gameplay is pretty damn awesome. The ending on this mario race HAS to be seen. This is too sexy for words. Watch the grass grow on two screens, no cow-tipping :( And I must say I can't wait to play hunters. With the addition of so many new characters and abilities I'm very glad it was delayed. Lastly my favorite artist in the whole wide world just got his own blog.

Edit: Oh and this. I'm Canadian but I'm pretty sure I could sing the Mr.Plow theme before I can ever site our charter. That's Mr.Plow that's my name, that name again is Mr.Plow...

EditEdit: Oh and the new 99Nights trailer. Dynasty Warriors on crack and THE reason to get a 360.

Edit the third: LETS BOOT IT UP. Horror movies are usually retarded but, this one just takes it to the next level of DURR.

Friday, February 24, 2006 2:33 PM - Fros are awesome

So yeah Digital Overload is coming up this March. Gonna be down for that. Still need to rent me a PC, I should get on that.

I'd just like to take the time to say I really do love One Piece. KF (google it, I fear linking) Subs are just the best. I know there's another subber doing the later episodes now, but the torrents on those move soooo slow. So I was overjoyed to see that they've also been uploaded to You Tube. That Foxy fight was such a badass ending. I know a few of the subbers read this so I just wanted to say thanks. Totally appreciated.

Now for something completely fucked up. I'm the JUGGERNAUT BITCH!
Tuesday, February 21, 2006 5:25 PM - It's up.

Tried a new colouring technique this time. Took a little more time but I really enjoy it visually. Characters have a little more POP. I don't for see this comic being late again for a while to come. Thanks for bearing with that.

I giggled at what Ananth had to say in this. Particularly since the tap-dancing penis drawing was cut :D Ha, cut. Penis jokes. I'm on a roll. Ha, roll. Wait... Hmmm...

END COMMUNICATION.

Monday, February 20, 2006 10:10 AM - I'm a banana

Got back from Katsucon, just want to thank everyone who came by. Lots of fun!

Just needed me a 30hour nap as these things DRAIN ME. I'll have a comic up a little later or tomorrow.

Oh and Phoenix Wright fans owe it to themselves to watch this. AWESOME. And Katamari webgame lawlz.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006 4:29 PM - Week after week!

MONDAY OH SHI-.. Check back next week for a comic. Drew two, threw away two. Out of the country tomorrow so I'm going to use this time to draw one for Monday. Sorry.

Oh yeah... Katsucon is this weekend. Got posters and books although limited. I'll be there Friday and Saturday in artist alley, with a panel Friday night. See ya there.

It's a crazy thing. I play my DS daily but, the only time I pick up the PSP is to load videos on it. Great for killing time in the airport and on the plane. Just sit back and watch shit. Sadly the best game it's got is the homebrew emus, shame that. I am looking forward to splintercell & katamari but not much else.

Edit: Oh and if I'm not busy at Katsu I'm up for a game of Shonen Jump or Mario Kart. So bring it if ya got it.

Tuesday, February 7, 2006 2:30 AM- Capitalism!

I hear there's a new presale going on in the old store. We've got three new designs up. Peek-a-boo, Leo & Aeris, and Hey! Listen!

Monday, February 6, 2006 11:01 AM - tee hee.

Felt like being a little random this week.

Katsucon is next week, February 17th-19th, 2006 Washington D.C. Others in attendance:

Matt Boyd, Mac Hall (machall.com/)
Ian McConville, Mac Hall (machall.com/)
Jes Weigand, Mac Hall (machall.com/)
Mohammad F. "Hawk" Haque, Applegeeks (applegeeks.com/)
Ananth Panagariya, Applegeeks (applegeeks.com/)
Dave Lister, Paradox Lost (paradox-lost.com/)
Michael Terracciano, Dominic Deegan (dominic-deegan.com)
Shawn Handyside, Staccato (staccatocomic.com/)
Jamie Noguchi, Angry Zen Master (angryzenmaster.com/)
Onezumi, Onezumi.com (onezumi.com)
Chris Impink, Fragile Gravity (fragilegravity.com)
Barb Fischer, Fragile Gravity (fragilegravity.com)
Garth Graham, Comedity (comedity.com)
Larom Lancaster, Comedity (comedity.com)

Yeah I copy and pasted the list big whoop, wanna fight about it? Also doing a panel with Hawk and Ananth friday. Which is maddness I tell you. MADNESS. You see, his art... my "art". Should be fun.

Saturday, February 4, 2006 7:36 PM - It's just a box

Tried the 'I'm O.K. Murder Simulator'. I was surprised to see how well it was done. Very funny. Total homage to Metal Slug :) Oh well, back to ignoring that guy exists.

This also made me laugh pretty hard. It's not him just saying Uwe Boll isn't doing the MGS movie. He's horrified at the very idea of it. This is good. Uwe Boll of course is the director who's resume reads like a DVD discount bin. I always found the idea of a Metal Gear movie screwy. Given you watch almost two movies worth of cinematics just playing the games.

Speaking of Snake, I hear they're on a plane.

Wednesday, February 1, 2006 8:07 PM - THE DIG

Found this funny.

"In regards to your latest strip, I just thought I'd put another spin on this spooky mystery. Stop me if you've heard this one already.

The gyroids are based on haniwa, which are clay dolls that the ancient Japanese used to mark dead people's tombs way back in oh, let's say the fifth century or thereabouts. Which basically means that your entire animal Crossing town is built on top of a one-and-a-half-millenia-old graveyard, and the creepy dancing statues you dig up are actually creepy dancing funerary relics, which, I can only assume, are haunted by the restless and vengeful spirits of those whose graves they once adorned.

Say what you will about Nintendo's squeaky-clean image. I only wish I could say Animal Crossing was the only Nintendo game where the ampant desecration of graves is a popular pastime. Now where did I put that shovel...?

Liam N. "

So we're desecrating grave sites? Ah cultural sensitivity.

Monday January 30, 2006 9:16 PM - Kick, punch it's all in the mind.

Last Animal Crossing strip I promise*. Also this is just plain awesome. God I loved that game.

*Not a promise.

Friday, January 27, 2006 11:05 PM - P.H.3.3.R.

Playing me some FEAR, running through offices and what not. Then I come across this in a cubical. I believe you have my stapler. I love it when they include stuff like this. I do go out of the way to read the texture maps in games. There's usually humor to be found planted in by rouge mappers. Fight on brave soldiers.

Edit: That's right ROUGE not rogue, red bastards.

Friday, January 27, 2006 1:05 PM - PoP thing

Yeah I'm very sure it's not a Two Thrones glitch. Just my Xbox breaking down after being on so long. Had this happen during Gun too. Found the timing humorous and thought I'd share. Still recomend getting the game howerver. It's an awesome wrap up to the series.

Friday, January 27, 2006 2:28 AM - End game spoilers lawlz

So I'm playing Two Thrones. And well.. I'm going to have to put this in spoilers. Highlight to read.

Here's a paraphrased excerpt from a FAQ for the final stage.

"Walk out to the next beam, wait until the
rotating beam aligns with you, then jump to it. Walk to its end, wait until it
aligns with the next beam, and then leap forward.

<NOTE THIS SPOT HERE>

And...that's it! Enjoy the final cutscene, and pat yourself on the back. You
just beat Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones!"

See that spot I noted? THAT'S WHERE THE GAME FROZE. Needless to say obscenities were broadcast with the subtly of a fog horn. I'll pick up at the final boss fight again another time. When I'm not so blind with generic rage.

Great game though, despite crushing my girlish spirit.

Edit: Whoops, copied over the other news post. Technology eludes me once again. Filler comic this week, new comic monday, game endings, etc, etc...

Thursday, January 19, 2006 - Oh mai gah

Few things I've been meaning to link to. Cameo here and here. Also Chris Boe has finished the first episode to his VGC Animated series. You can check that here. Mighty cool if I do say so.

I'm sure there are a lot of students that read this and I was wondering if you help me out. I'm looking to go back to school and take some courses. Around Canada preferably. What I'd like to learn is Maya and Game Design. So if you know of any good places to go, or at one of these places lemmie know. Thanks a lot.

Edit: Yipes thanks! Got a lot of emails to go through but it looks like the majority so far recommend either Washington or Vancouver. Gots some cals to make on Monday. Thanks again!

Monday, January 16, 2006 1:53 AM - He's critical doctor!

The second season of Battlestar Galactica finally started up here in Canada. Totally worth the freaking wait. Really if you're any kind of sci-fi fan you owe it to your self to give the mini series a rent. It's the pilot to this remake of the old series and very bad ass. "But Scott I hated the old series!" Me too, this one is completely different.

I picked up a copy of Trauma Center finally. I swear this game was constantly not in stock. Looks like it'll be enjoyable, unfortunately it's not very playable for me. After a dozen or so games on the DS I've worn that screen out pretty bad. The top portion of the touch pad is having a lot of trouble reading anything. Guess I'll have to wait until the redesign. I'm praying for an analog nub.

Bubble Bobble fans might get a kick out of this up coming game for PSP. It's Bubble Bobble given the Shadow the Hedgehog treatment. Gun and all.

Hey do ya remeber those giant level maps you'd get in Nintendo Power issues? Well now expand that to every god damn platform! Mighty cool site. Even Metal Slug!!

Finally, so true.

Edit: Almost... One last thing. Full Metal Alch on AOL.

Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - Jimmy Stewartcon '85

I suppose I should update this news post thing once and a while. I'm all set to be going to two cons this spring. First is Katsucon February 17th-19th in Washington D.C. Aka Mr. Ramsoomair goes to Washington. Probably do a panel or some junks.

Then there's Digital Overload March 10th-12th in Providence, Rhode Island. As presented by Tim of Ctrl-Alt-Del but then I didn't need to tell you this, everyone's going. Pretty much informal fun and gaming for that. Probably hanging out with some losers. Oh and if you've got a DS and Jump Superstars for the love of crap bring it. Mario Kart DS is also acceptable.

Tuesday, January 3, 2006 6:19 AM - I want my 5 minutes back

Alternative title "Sad hobo in the snow", only kidding Fred. No joke this week just a character send off. Unless you find homless freezing to death funny. I hear they pee to keep warm. Ha-ha, incontinence.

Edit: Press Start is back after a server crash. Still funny.

Wednesday, December 28, 2005 1:56 AM - BRB

Sorry for the no comic. Went to visit my family over the holidays and wasn't brining a laptop. The comic is mostly done, I just ran out of time to do it. It'll be up today at some point. Just need some sleeeeeeeeeep. Happy Holidays!

And super thanks to Nix for taking care of the cats.. And getting me a replacement copy of Grim Fandango. Bestest gift evar. PS. READ DP.

Here's last years Dr. Hobo Wallpaper.
800
1024
1280

Edit: And by today I mean tomorrow. I tell ya, you sit down to play a bit of Grim Fandango. The next thing you know it's 5 hours later and you're reading bad poetry in the Blue Casket.

Monday, December 19, 2005 - THY NEXT FOE BE AN UPDATE

So, how about that Dragon Quest 8. I really did try to like this but I just found it so very boring. Probably right around the first battle that looked out of RPG Maker I found myself losing interest. BUT ANYWAY.

The signing at Jetpack worked out great! The Gaming Club at Laurier were the peeps that set this whole thing up. Big thanks to them. Rasied over a grand in total. All of which will be going to buy stuff here. (PSST BUY STUFF)

Oh and Bubble Bobble flash game. Giggidy.

Tuesday, December 13, 2005 1:48 PM - I made me a snowman

Playing some Animal Crossing Wild World. Most fun. Visiting other towns is crazy fun too. I was surprised to see that NPCs are totally different from town to town. I'm a little cautious about opening my gates. Simply because my town is so sucky. I heard that NPC can migrate, which means I'd be in a ghost town. D: I hope this ain't true.

Got me a Metal Gear Solid tune for my town. Though that Linkin Park one was hard to resist.
Tuesday, December 6, 2005 2:46 PM - I'm a title

Been working on this comic nonstop since Thursday. No one wants it done more than me. Stay tuned.

Edit: It's up. If I ever see anything Final Fantasy again it will be too soon.

I will say this though. I enjoyed the FF12 Demo and look forward to this system of battles. As in, no more random or turn based. I felt right at home in the FF Online style of gameplay. The demo did lack "wow" appeal though. Hell, the FF8 demo had summons at least.

Edit: Looks like they did have summons but, you need full MP to use 'em. OH WELL. I still love my gigantic powerups.
Saturday, December 3, 2005 9:40 AM - Lotsa art

Updated the Fan Section... For the first time in like a year. I'm sure I'm missing stuff. Year and all.

One game I got to try out recently was Gun. I wasn't expecting to like this at all. However this turned out to be a really fun game. Short but good controls, beautiful graphics, and outstanding voice acting. Best description I could come up with is GTA with horses. While there is a main story it also has a variety of side missions. Defiantly recommend giving this game a rent.

Again I'll be doing a charity signing at Gemini Jetpack (Waterloo Ontario) for the Toronto Sick Kids hospital. Saturday Dec 17th at 2pm. It's in the building on King between University and Columbia.

Edit: Got all the sounds I need. Thanks peeps!

Tuesday, November 29, 2005 2:21 PM - Toronto Sick Kids

Bit of a call out to anyone in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Gemini Jetpack down on King and University is collectiong money to be used for Child's Play.

All donations will be used to buy gifts for the Toronto Sick Kids hospital. I will also be doing a signing down there sometime this month (Date still to be decided). I'll probably have some posters to sell. Again anything made will go right here. More to come!

Saturday, November 26, 2005 12:22 PM - YOU REALLY SUCK AT THIS ICHIGO.

Updated some art. I warn you though, it's a spoiler image. If you watch Bleach you really should be up to date with the current episode (59).

In other news I hate winter. OH HOW I HATE THEE.

Edit: Blame Shawn for this. I might do a second one this week.

Thursday, November 24, 2005 6:48 AM - FIDDY

Oh good lord. Yeah.. There's selling your product and then there's being a god damn whore. I hope no one actually buys this crap, kid OR adult.

Tuesday, November 22, 2005 7:01 PM - Yeah...

This is mostly true.

Fresh from the powerbook of another Hollywood hack! I want to work at a theater. Just so I can punch the face of every last man, woman, child, and invalid that goes to see crap like this. I don't discriminate who I'd sucker punch. Equal opportunities... FOR PAIN. Unless they're much bigger than me. Then it's just a stern fist shake... When they're not looking. Naturally.

Sunday, November 20, 2005 10:42 PM - Who needs courage when you have ... a gun!

While there have been a lot of really great games out recently. There have also been some really bad games you should avoid.

The first is Path of Neo. In a word I can say that this game is 'clunky'. Moves like a zombie and aims like one too. The graphics are also pretty shit but, this is probably because of how many guys are on screen at once. Pass on this.

Another while isn't bad, isn't good either. Battalion Wars is okay but could have really benefited by being set in the Advance Wars universe. Any strategy attempted in this just becomes far too hectic. My God.. Those voice overs. Rent it before you decide on buying this.

Lastly there's Shadow. Yeaaaaaah.... At least the DS game is pretty freaking awesome. This system has really been kicking ass as of late. Hell I've been playing it more than my consoles.

Oh and I've been meaning to give a shout out to the guys at my local gamatorium, X-Treme Play, here in Waterloo. I'm pretty sure Gun is overdue.

Friday, November 18, 2005 5:51 AM - Searching... beep boop.

This makes me happy in the pantular region. This however scares me silly. Yeah that's life sized. GO PLANET!

Mario Kart continues to amuse me and frustrate me. Thier online setup is just so beyond retarded. Pain in the ass sometimes to get a game going using friend search. Once it's up and going though it's crazy fun. I still can't belive this game has boss battles. Totally rad.

The best ever execution of of online play is still Halo 2 on Live. In game notification, organized friends list, easy communication, hop on and play. Seriously every game NEEDS to adapt this. I just hope the Revolution isn't going to look like Kart Wifi.

Before Kart came there was another game that kept me gripped to my DS. It was Phoenix Wright : Ace Attorney. Love. This. Game. Take Law and Order, turn it into an anime, and then turn it into a game.

Not really suited for the DS and probably would have been just fine on the GBA. That aside it's still a great and hilarious game. There was such a well done job in bringing this game over here. Interaction between the characters made me laugh more than a few times. Oh and yes, there's l33t speak in there too.

It's not something everyone will enjoy, simply because it's very light hearted. I did enjoy it quite a lot and it's worth a try.

Wednesday, November 16, 2005 6:21 AM - Bombs are laaaame.

The comic that was to go up is mostly done. Just felt like doing this one instead. Mighty fun game. It's like the best elements of Mario Kart for Cube and N64 mixed into one. In addition race tracks from SNES, N64, Cube, and some awesome new ones for this game. Hell, BLOCK FORT is back. Along with my beloved bunny hop.

Online is tricky to get going if all aren't on good connections. Probably just first day jitters. It is fun though.. even if I did lose pretty bad. In all fairness 1 on 1 is tough. Though in playing I've seen the following custom drawn kart decals; "Fuck you", Swastikas, and all manner of vulgarities. AH THE YOUTH OF TODAY.

Needles to say this game is a requirement if you own a DS. Just wanted to make that clear.

Monday, November 14, 2005 2:14 PM - Oh shi!

Oh shi-.. Filler. Comic up as soon as I can.

Tuesday, November 8, 2005 8:53 PM - Child's Play 05

New Child's Play site is up. Good to see the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital listed. For sure buying some stuff there. You know, saved my life and all. Where ever you chose to give to it's all good. Just give.

Monday, November 7, 2005 9:14 AM - Pi

So it's looking like the 360 is going to be the 'hot toy' this year. With shortages and preorders abound it's already one not everyone can get, and therefore MUST HAVE. Personally I haven't preordered one. There just aren't any games worth getting on launch. Perfect Dark is looking like ass and Gears of War, while unbelievably beautiful, isn't somthing I have to play right away. I will however pick one up somtime in spring. You know when the hype has died down.

Some of y'all are asking how Ronin is doing. Well she's quite well. Adjusting to the other two slowly but they are all getting use to each other. As far as preggers goes she ain't which is good. I tell ya though, becuase this cat use to live outside she'll eat ANYTHING now. Having a meal yourself is a constant battle! A battle I always lose.

Edit: Btw. This is where the avatar came from. I find it silly.
Monday, October 31, 2005 4:29 AM - Treats

OH EM GEE GHOSTS! Halloween Ghost Comic, get it? Ghost instead of guest. That there is a quality play on words. You can keep that. But if you use it we'll track you down and beat you.

Also Pumpkins. So many Pumpkins.

Sunday, October 30, 2005 3:51 AM - D:

Just broke the tablet PC. It's nothing too big but it's gonna be a pain to fix. I was picking it up with my hand next to the plug and then... SNAP. Either broke a tiny little part where it connects to the power. So I've got to search for a replacement. That or I broke the adapter end which is much easier to replace.

It's just a loose connection (which is now no connection) to the power. It does keep me from using it but it's no biggie. Back to pen and paper for now. I r dum.

Comic Monday per normal.

Wednesday, October 26, 2005 8:26 AM - I'm going to poop in that field

One game I've been putting a lot of time into this week is Black and White 2. I was a huge fan of the first one, and I'm glad to see this has lived up and improved upon it.

It plays now like a RTS/Virtual Pet/Simcity hybrid with a God complex. Almost all of which was done superb. The RTS side could do with more fleshing out. Such as minimap and better alerts. However it did the job.

The other aspects are just so perfect. The city you create is is VERY adaptive. Urban planing is context sensitive and will help you in the building process. In this game you don't need to wage war. Instead you can choose to create an impressive town. Citizens from the enemies town will migrate to yours if it impresses them enough. I love this kind of freedom in gameplay. Open ended for the win.

Your God powers also got upped extensively. You're privy to a lot more information in terms of towns needs and can better adapt to the situation. Like the last one you also have miracles. Few new ones but in addition you now can create wonders. These include hurricane, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Watching one of these devastating events occur is nothing short of cinematic.

The volcano is my personal favorite. It may take a long time to build up but it's so worth it. The lava actually bends and flows according to the landscape. Should you be the recipient of one you can douse it with water to attempt to stop it. Futilely in motion.

Finally you have your creature. I picked the happy little cow. Unlike the first Black and White this time you can tell now what exactly you are teaching it. Little bubbles will appear above his head from time to time and you can teach him if it's good or bad. Once taught you can refer back to it in the menu to see what he'll do in the future, or correct this behavior. Good ol' animal abuse.

I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting to talk about and I could go on all day but, I think you get the message. This game is magnificent and a must buy. Just make sure your computer is up to spec.

Thursday, October 20, 2005 7:39 AM - Pumpkin Designs

Almost forgot about these suckers. Use 'em should you be so inclined. What with the candy day fast approaching. As well the Konsekai Swordwaltzer Graphic Novel is out. You might remember he did this RatFlail picture not to long ago, outstanding work.

finally.. party freaking hats.

Tuesday, October 18, 2005 4:49 AM - Jacks Wild

The guys at Penny Arcade just called his bluff. My word.

Edit: Oh and when he gets disbarred, I'm wearing a party hat to the hearing. Maybe a shirt too.

Friday, October 14, 2005 3:28 AM - Mo' like Bamf your mom.

Y'all seemed to like Leo-Nightcrawler and I had fun drawing him. So I made a wallpaper. A fan also sent one in. And on a completely different subject Pierre informs me there's now Rat Flail Ladies shirts. He did this in his sleep of course because we all know, he never really sleeps.

Tuesday, October 11, 2005 12:36 PM - New Shirts!

Three brand spanking new VG Cats shirt designs are up for presale at Ze Stuff. "This Shirt is Silly", "My mom said that I should get out more", and "How I mine for fish?". These items will be shipping on November 1st. If you're looking to get a shirt in time for Christmas I'd order it now.

There are also a ton of freaking awesome designs up from some other guys as well. Check them all out over here. (Some personal favs)

Friday, October 7, 2005 - DS Wifi Download

Wanna try out som DS demos? This is pretty bad ass. Here's how to get it working. The Jump Super Stars demo is there too.

Thursday, October 6, 2005 8:47 PM- I have a kitty

Her name is Ronin. I'm a fucking tard I know.

She started eating out of our garage a little over a week ago. The poor thing was starved. Gave her a less freezing place to stay in the garage and fed her real food. Exhausted all means to see if she belonged to anyone to no results. She's was a stray.

Took her to the vet yesterday to get her all checked out. Clean bill of health, aside from the fact there's a slight chance she's pregnant. It's too early to tell. Anyway she's safe to move inside with the other cats and out of the garage.

Ro is currently sleeping warm and comfy on the sofa.

Edit: No, not a new character. Just a cutie.
Thursday, October 6, 2005 3:39 PM- Ninjas vs Pirates

The game that I really haven't put down much this past week is Jump Super Stars. Which arrived with a "Package Pickup Final Notice" sheet in the mail. Begging the question when my "First Notice" was. I hate our mail, I really do.

Anyway this game is freaking fantastic. It was the main reason I bought a DS in the first place. It didn't disapoint. This is the closest thing you're going to get to smash brothers on the DS right now. Only instead of Nintendo characters you have a SHITLOAD of anime battlers.

Now lets see... Bobo-bobobo, Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, JoJo's Adventure, Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, Prince of Tenis, and a ton of others I can't remember. Yes there's Yugioh and DBZ too but screw them. It's everything published in Shonen Jumps manga. Best of all because it's based off the manga it's all up to date with the current stories. Hell, Bankai Ichigo!

You choose and unlock your characters by assembling your own manga page in the bottom screen. Placement is key as characters will link off each other to boost powers. As well some characters can perform dual attacks. Ie Jotaro and Luffy's Gomu Gomu no ORA ORA!!

Controls are solid and fighters are for the most part balance. Would have been nice to hear some voice overs in there too. Then again I think hearing "Datte ba yo" over and over again would cause me to snap.

If you're a Shonen Jump fan I HIGHLY recommend buying this game. It's the ultimate fan service.

(Also thanks to the users at gamefaqs for helping me with my stupid questions)

Thursday, October 6, 2005 5:10 AM - I'm not dead.

Indigo video, funny. Also Dave informs me I've been Tampon Tagged :(

Edit: And to the other Dave, it's owwwwwne!
(ps it's a joke guys)
Tuesday, October 4, 2005 7:17 AM - Well, that's how my story ends.

So "Bamf" is like Spiderman's "Thwip". Went ahead and corrected all the poofs. Silly sound effects.

So I finished playing Indigo Prophecy and I loved it. The game was such a fresh breath of air from all the other stuff out there. Superb story, voice acting, and music.

It plays out like one of those choose your own adventure books from school. It'll force you to think quick on your feet with very limited time for choices. This is done by giving you time limits on speach and actions.

One draw back I found was when you intentionally tried to make the story go bad. It would destroy your sanity (Your health basically). No sanity = game over. Still choices you make do change the gameplay which is way cool.

A lot of the Indigo plays out like a like a Simmon Says/DDR mini game. It didn't really take away from the fun however. I found it to be enjoyable as it kept me interested. Reminded me of RE4 which isn't a bad thing at all.

Did have a problem here or there but Indigo Prophecy is definitely worth checking out.

Wednesday, September 28, 2005 8:50 PM - I'm a podcast whore

Extralife does a weekly podcast show. Went on it yesterday and blathered on incoherently. Been a fan of Scott's work for a long time so it was a treat to go on and talk. Even if I make little to no sense. Not that I ever do.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005 11:11 AM - Gambit so cray-zay.

Many games right now. I'll try and get to them all this week. Today it's X-Men Legends 2. Spent the better part of Monday night playing it with Sarge, and Dave. Fun game even though it's basically Baldurs Gate with Mutants.

It's one of those games that NEEDS to be played with others however. So I was super glad to hear that it was supported on X-Box Live. It's ever so much fun to make Gambit (by far the loudest character in the game) talk to no end. Thereby forcing others to listen to it.

Favorite mutant so far is Night Crawler. That teleport ability is just too freaking useful. Really does feel like I'm cheating using him. "Oh what's this? A door? I think not. POOF! Later suckers!". You can also teleport your teammates around the place. Though I've yet to drop anyone in a pit. Mainly because I'd die too...

The graphics are decent enough and online play RARELY lags down. I know it's just a generic dungeon crawler at heart but it's also the X-Men. So that cancels it right out in my book. If you've got someone to play it with I'd say give 'er a rent.

Oh by the way. I love it when complete strangers try to analyze me. It makes me Giggle. Also thanks to Joystiq for the link! I promise not to troll.. much.

Edit: I weep, United States only. How am I supposed to save the princess now? Me dum. Canada too!

Monday, September 26, 2005 1:24 AM - Snake? SNAKE?

New Comic. Updating once a week does have it's drawbacks. Like say, getting beat to the punch. Case in point! I had this week's comic storyboarded on Monday last week. Since then there've been two other (better) MGS comics.

First is a guest comic sent in by in Alex of No Need For Bushido. Excellent by the way. And one over here from Tim 'pop my cherry' Buckley. Also excellent.

Went with mine anyway because it was one of those rare cases where was working ahead and had a lot of it drawn. There's no love lost for Snake fans this week folks.

Monday, September 19, 2005 5:54 PM - "!" I think I heard something.

Man, so many good games coming out this week. To name a few; Fable Lost Chapters, Battalion Wars, Indigo Prohecy, We <3 Katamari, and Ultimate Spiderman. Nice to see the summer slump is finally ending.

One game I'm been waiting on for a month now is Jump Superstars. I swear there is just so much hate for Canadian customs. If you remember I had trouble getting a laptop in last time. It's like my name pops up and my shit is put in the limbo. Estimated shipping was 3-5 days. :P

Also I finally have a reason to look forward to the PS3. So what if he's an old man, it still looks bloody fantastic. Can't wait. At least there'll be this to tide me.

*nsfw* Lastly POP! *nsfw*
Monday, September 19, 2005 12:05 AM - Walked into a doorknob.

New comic. Now before you get your e-trigger finger on that send button, just hear me out.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit excited to see what games come out for the new controller. Still it's an iffy idea at best. I always feel like a battered wife with Nintendo. As much as they beat the shit out of me, I still love them.

The first thought that crossed my mind when I looked at it was, "How the fuck do I play smash brothers on that?!". Enter the peripherals. Which I am sure to be a first in a long line. Here are just a few ideas floating around. Money grab? Golly no.

The fact is Nintendo is on very shaky ground with the Gamecube. Awesome in handhelds but wow, trouble in consoles. Some of the games this systems has are fantastic. However they are few and FAR between.

Now you might call this a risk Nintendo is willing to make. Wind Waker was a risk. This is near suicide. I loved Wind Waker but many people were turned off by it . The same way people are being turned off by the new controller. If you're looking to pull in new customers this just isn't the way to do it. So there's the mantra that they're "Focused on making games". Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled out of consoles.

This is all speculation of course. Might end up liking the damn thing. God knows I've been wrong before. These are my views and I'm probably not going to change them until I try the Rev. Make your own decisions.

Just one last thing. This is the silliest promo video ever. There's such a thing as too excited. Direct hate mail over here.

Thursday, September 15, 2005 11:18 PM - Nintendo just died

Nintendo's new controller is out. Congratulations Nintendo, you've created what looks like a sex toy. Complete with rumble pack. Well, it was a fun company while it lasted.

On the plus side Sam & Max is back! : D

Wednesday, September 14, 2005 7:15 AM - Kupo

So how about those Children? I hear they're Advent. Downloaded Advent Children just because I couldn't wait two fucking days. (Edit: Looks like the NA release date is in the winter. Glad I watched it now!) Loved it. Definitely going to buy it when it comes out.

Talking to Dave about his yesterday. How it's sad that this Final Fantasy movie was better than the piece of shit released in theaters. Trouble is over here you get some retardo people trying to put their vision into the franchise. Then turning what was great into complete crap. Because the story that made it famous clearly wasn't good enough.

Best part of Advent Children though? The cell phone ring. And speaking of phones, it's the squirrel phone. What a novel idea.

Oh and this is most fun.

Edit: Also ZeAds is looking for someone to fill a sales position. Experienced applicants only.

Monday, September 12, 2005 3:49 AM - Visual boner.

To say Xero's work is fantastic would be a vast understatement. It's a rat flail. Lastly Konsekai Swordwaltzer, Konsekai Swordwaltzer, Konsekai Swordwaltzer!

Edit: Bleaargh, It's River City Ransom people. Read a rom! Blame Ian.. Just because.

Saturday, September 10, 2005 12:43 PM - Throw baby

The Indigo Prophecy Demo just released. It comes out next week for PC and X-Box and I must say I can't fucking wait. Plays like if a Lucasarts adventure game were turned into a dramatic movie. It's really quite a new experience. Highly recommend giving it a download.

Also Damn it to hell. Why do they always make the lead kid sound like Ask Ketchum. Grainy and whiney. Bleh...

Monday, September 5, 2005 9:34 AM - Oh em gee

Another cartoon comic? Golly, how terribly lame of me. No really I'll get back to the game stuff next week. Put away the pitch forks.

And wow, everyone certainly is in a giving mood. A REALLY giving mood. Why break the trend, eh? Just watch out for Paypal donations. They like to take those and run for the hills.

Lastly a few fun mario links. The Super Mario Super Show and Mario Raps.

Edit: I keept forgeting to post this gem. Super awesome art San did and I REALLY need to update the fanart because of this. Enjoy.

Sunday, September 4, 2005 8:23 AM - Motion Picturephone

Two really awesome movies just came out of DVD recently. The first is Kung Fu hustle. This is a Kung Fu comedy movie with some really high production value. Got a few laughs out of me and just a really fun movie to watch. I think PSP has it on umd too but who cares. PSP video works just as well.

The other is Sin City. The fact I missed this in theaters is practically criminal. Simply love the art style in this thing. And if that wasn't enough the writing is also way above par. I swear though, with all the narration I thought Max Payne would pop out.. Oh and Elijah Wood is a creepy killer, who can't love that?

Just thought I'd share.

Thursday, September 1, 2005 0:31 AM - HULK SMASH

So anyway I did an interview for Otaku Generation. Moments before I went to sleep mind you. So I'm incoherent at best. Me stoopid.

Been a bit since I've talked gaming. LET US FIX THAT.

Finally got to try out Geist. I have to say I was quite unimpressed. I loved the idea behind this game. You're a ghost trying to make it's way through a facility. While doing so you can posses people, animals, and even objects. Each of these things will give you special powers an abilities unique to what you're possessing.

The problem with this is that they decide what it is you can posses. The animals and people you take over have to be scared first. To scare them you posses objects but, only certain objects. So instead of free form gameplay it's very much a structred series of events. Booooring.

Had some problems with the controls too. It might just be the Cube's controller but it felt very loose and hard to aim. Lack of audio was a big downer too. Midi sounds and lots of reading. The levels were pretty at least.

'Nother game I've been playing is that new Hulk Ultimate Destruction. This here is a really fun game. Spiderman be damned I like to smash things. Once you've got a nice list of powers under your belt it gets to be REALLY fun. Seriously, beating people with people.

I think there's a story in there. I can't really be bothered with that. Tried it for a good few hours of just going around and smashing the hell out of stuff. Controls so well and feels so good. Definitely recommend at least renting this game.

Lastly there's Kirby Canvas Curse. Finally the DS has an AWESOME game.. Really this thing is SO much fun. With traveling around to cons this year, it's been keeping me busy during airport waits.

Unlike Yoshi touch and Go which moves at a fucking snails pace, this game is fast and entertaining. Uses the DS touch pad in so many ways that are just seamless to gameplay. If you have a DS you NEED this game.

But wow that time trail mode had some frustrations.

SCOTT AWAY!

Thursday, August 25, 2005 - Yo' mom has invited you to try Google Talk.

Google talk, it's out. I GET IT. So many invites...

So yeah as for an Otakon report. We really didn't move much from our table. Thanks to Machall (and Georgeyboy) for letting me crash with them. Dispite the turkey alarm clock. It got weird.

Spent most of Saturday night hanging out with Ed, Brad, Wayne, Dave, Jay, Dan, Jax, Shawn, Ben, and some other people. Best smash brothers game EVAR. Total pawnage. Dave said the 4chan panel was a must. I was just kinda confused more than anything, especially that dude in a pink cat girl costume. Frightening.

His report covers pretty much everything.

Like I said, most of the time I was down at the booth with Brain and Tim. With a HUGE thanks to ZeStuff for helping us all out with posters and shirts. Pierre is a robot with an unstoppable nuclear core.

Speaking of which the new poster is up for sale in the store. As well the old poster is out in clearance at reduced price. Once it's gone it's gone for good.

Again this weekend...

CN Anime August 26th-28th Toronto, Ontario.
EDIT: (FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ONLY)

Oh and response to the last comic wasn't so bad, I may keep it. Anyway back to drawing! Penises!
Wednesday, August 24, 2005 5:58 AM - Crazycons 05

New and very late comic. Safe to say it sucks total balls and will be replaced next week. Save it if you like it because it's a goner. I'm just totally strapped for time this week.

Speaking of which, Otakon was a blast. I'll talk more on that later. Just an apology to anyone who might have gone to that Saturday panel. You know what with me not being there. Just a lot of misinformation all around. It wasn't listed in the guide so I asked the staff. They didn't find anything so I assumed it was canceled. Just to be on the safe side I checked around at 5:30, couldn't find anything in the massive lines and crowds. So off I went.

I found out later that some staff were looking for me... in the art room. Our booth was in the dealers. So yeah.. lots of misinformation and just bad luck. Sorry again though with it not being listed I don't think many people knew to come. Bleargh, bleargh I say!

I was at the first panel that day however. Huzza. Thanks to everyone who came down to say hi and feed my ego. 'Boo' to the weirdo who left a coke bottle full of a yellow substance on the table. Highly disturbing.

ANYWAY!

My next and LAST con for the summer is this weekend.

CN Anime 2005 August 26th-28th, Toronto, Ontario. I'm not a guest at this one. Just have a small table in Artist Alley. So no panels. I will have poster though... and love.

I love doing these cons but hot damn! They are SO draining. Regular updates will continue for the rest of the year after this last one.
Wednesday, August 17, 2005 2:25 AM - WoW Guilds

Change the ol' news post. Looks like there is a VG Cats WoW clan now. Info on that can be found here.

Oh and a little bit more about Bleach. It feels unfinished more than anything. Fun for a distraction but a very simplistic fighter. Good game but not great. If you're thinking of getting it I'd say just wait until Bleach 2. It's got a pretty nifty opening animation at least.

Tuesday, August 16, 2005 2:38 AM - Newegg

Whoops, looks like the Newegg link no worky. Go here for that if you're intrested. They've always got great prices for parts.

Monday, August 15, 2005 12:08 AM - Two point Oh!

As I'm typing this Sony hasn't released their 2.0 patch for the PSP yet. Though it is due out today. When it does go live I've got a few thing for ya.

PSP version of the comic and PSP wallapers.

But if you're a lucky bastard with 1.5 firmware I'd say hold off on updating. I'm sure the ever awesome Homebrew will have a 2.0 patch out eventually. As for me I'm kinda screwed anyway, so I update!

As far as games go, so far I've got AC!D(Ngggh! Card Battle! Oliolioo.), Dynasty Warriors(I'm a Koei whore), and Bleach. Imported of course. Love that no region protection. Something BOTH systems have, and if I can find a copy of Jump at Otakon that sucker is mine.

Speaking of which, it's this weekend. [Otakon 2005 August 19th-21st, Baltimore, Maryland] I'll have a panel on Saturday from 5:30 - 7:30. Probably won't run the full two hours, thems food time. I'll be in in the dealers room with Optimus is my Jesus Brian and Fancy pants two books Tim. Plenty of other web peeps will be there too. (butt)

So anyway thanks to Jacky boy I went and gave Killer 7 a second shot. You may recall at first I slammed it pretty hard. After giving this game a little more time I have to say I enjoyed it. Still hate the on the rails system and inability to invert controls. However! I love those visuals. It's like watching a really bizarre anime.

So I made a wallpaper.

I'm sure you're sick of hearing about Jacko right now but here are a few last links worth your attention. Jack's attempted arrest, stopblame.com, and stopstopkill.com. I love those names.

Comic Will be up either late today or early tomorrow. Updated the Sketch Dump (TM me and totally not Gabe) though.
Friday, August 12, 2005 2:32 PM - Coneneticon and P to the SP

Sorry I've been meaning to mention this. A bit of epilogue to Save Conneticon. All the money was raised and there will be a convention next year. Thanks to everyone who supported this. :)

As well by request a wallpaper of that first panel.
1280, 1024, 800.

Also I got myself a PSP.. It's 1.51 unfortunately. Upgraded to the Japanese 2.0. I hear there's a 2.1 firmware patch floating around. Current selection of games kinda blow. I'd love to get some emulated stuff runing on here. Any suggestions? At any rate I still think this is a sexy system, it just needs games.

Edit: PSP Video 9 and a gig memory stick just made the PSP 100% cooler. *Watches One Piece and Bleach*

Otakon 2005 (August 19th-21st) is next week. I'll more likey than not be giving away an exclusive PSP background there. I know for sure that I will be doing a panel Saturday evening. The rest of the time I'll be down in the dealers room sharing a booth with Brian and Tim. Once again ZeStuff will be there for all your shirt and poster needs.

And one last thanks to everyone responding over that Jack Thompson thing. Haven't had time to check all the emails but know that it's very much appreciated. His email server on the other hand crashed! Very lol. Thanks everyone!
Monday, August 8, 2005 - CAD

My comic isn't quite up yet (Edit: up now.) but I suggest checking out what Tim has over at Ctrl Alt Delete has. Hilarity.
Saturday, August 6, 2005 4:26 PM - Jacko

I'm fairly sure Jack Thompson isn't right in the head. Forwards an email to me about Killer 7. I email him back. He threatens legal action for harrasment. Wtf?

Read the full thing here.

Edit: Yes I checked the headers. Same IP, it was him both times and not a spoof.

Monday, August 1, 2005 3:30 PM - Zzzzz.

Finish shading later, sleep now. Jesus tits indeed.

Thursday, July 28, 2005 - Hot Java

So, about this hot coffee business. Is Rockstar at fault for letting that content slip by? Yep. Did they willingly device the ESRB, I'd wager dollars to donuts 'no'. The simple fact is that sex scene was never intended for veiwing. And what you got wasn't exactly porn.

However it was enough for the vultures to swoop in and tear it apart. The thing I find most irritating about all this is that, the game already is NOT for sale to minors. But I guess when you've got your own self interests at heart, you're willing to grasp at straws.

Should the ESRB be dismantled and an outside source regulate instead? Hell fucking no. Stuff happens, they act. Wacko groups like this won't be happy unless they are the ones in charge, and lets hope they never will be.

So yeah, I am perfectly willing to give RS the benefit of the doubt on this. Probably just blocked off to save time and get an excellent game into our hands. Pixel nipples and all.

Related stuffs: Maddox, Penny Arcade, GAAC, Game Rev, BTC, Game Core, and a whole lot of coverage on Kotaku.

Tuesday, July 26, 2005 5:28 AM 6:55 PM - : P

To say the last two weeks have been nuts would be a vast understatement. Anyway, new comic. Oh sorry I haven't had a chance to post this sooner. Lookie what we got.

Edit: Er, broke the site. Suffice it to say We got 'Best Videogame Comic' and 'Best Use of Colour' at CCAW.

Also that wallpaper is fucking BOSS.

Friday, July 22, 2005 0:36 AM - Northern Anime

Have a local con this weekend. Northern Anime Saturday July 23rd Oshawa, Ontario (near Toronto). Starts 10ish and runs until 12am, I'll have my panel at 12pm-1pm.
See you there!

Wednesday, July 20, 2005 6:55 PM - Donators Section

The Donators Area is up over at save CT Con. Just put your paypay address in to get access to some exclusive stuff from a number of the webcomics involved, including VG Cats. Donations of 5$ and up will have access and it's accumulative. Meaning if you put in a dollar and then put in four more it will total it.

Monday, July 18, 2005 8:34 PM - Save CTcon

Very important news regarding conneticon.

"In 2003, ConnectiCon opened its doors for the first time. Run by Matt Daigle and Briana Benn at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, ConnectiCon was a labor of love. Through blood, sweat and tears (and their own finances), they created one of the friendliest, most welcoming conventions in the Northeast. It caters to Anime, Sci-Fi, Gaming, Fantasy and more.

They ended their first year in debt, not entirely unusual for a first time convention. Yet despite their own financial losses, in 2004 they hosted ConnectiCon for a second time. The convention doubled in every aspect: attendance, guest appearances, and in fun. They finally broke even.

Due to a change in management and policy at the University of Hartford, where ConnectiCon was hosted for the first two years, the convention was forced to find a new home in 2005. Faced with a choice of canceling their event or taking a risk on a more expensive venue, Matt and Briana put everything they had on the line to throw the best convention they could. They moved ConnectiCon to the brand new Connecticut Convention Center.

Despite throwing another wonderful convention this year, they did not break even. In fact, due to the Convention Center being so new, and through a series of misunderstandings between ConnectiCon and Connecticut Convention Center staff, there were a lot of unforeseen expenses tacked on at the last minute.

To outline the costs concisely: The space rental was $45,000. The billing for additional expenses (to be attached at the convention's end) was quoted as being $5,000-$10,000. These expenses were planned for. However this bill was inflated due to last minute additions to Connecticut Convention Center staff, such as a full-time Fire Marshal, a full-time nurse, and extra security personnel, which were not discussed in the initial contract negotiations. Over the course of the weekend these additional expenses continued to pile up, until costs far exceeded the original $10,000 estimate.

As a result, Matt Daigle is now $34,148.50 in debt. That is too much for any one person to shoulder, let alone a person who was never interested in making money, and just wanted to throw a fun event for people to enjoy.

At this point it's not only ConnectiCon 2006 that's in danger; it's Matt and Briana's future.

ConnectiCon has earned a reputation amongst the webcomic community as being the largest supporter of our medium. There has never been another convention that treated webcomics with such respect and admiration. There has never been a convention that showcased such a huge number of webcomics in one place.

They have treated webcomics like royalty for the past three years and now, in their hour of need, dozens of webcomic creators and other artists have banded together to organize this fund.

We need to save our friends. We need to save our ConnectiCon.

And we need your help to do it."

Conneticon really does hold a special place for me. It was the first time I met anyone else in webcomics. It's always been an absolute joy. And as far as I'm concerned Matt and Briana are family. We help family.

So anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

See ya there!

Sunday, July 10, 2005 - Pathetic Human!

Games I've been a playing this past month. First is Conker. Wow was I ever disappointed by it's multiplayer.

Some of the good points. This is a very pretty game. The graphics got a huge boots. Everything you loved and hated is back in what feels like a direct port (loooooooooooooooading).

The bad? Every thing you hated is back. Frustrating levels and bad voice overs. I really wish SOME of voices done by a single British person, faking a bad American accent, would have got redone. They also added in a new thing to hate. A stupid timed press to your melee attack, a melee attack you have to switch into weapons mode to perform. urgh.

Now the multiplayer. If the just kept it from the 64 I'd be happy. But no, there's the class system now. No raptor vs cavemen. No tank wars. A game that is foremost a PLATFORMER does not translate into a class based, deathmatch shooter. Some do like it however so I'd recommend renting it before buying.

Another game I've been playing is Battlefield 2. Which I started out hating. Then I found out about the whole commander and tactical system. This was now getting quite fun. Then I tried it with a joystick. Love.

The controls in this puppy are very realistic. So when I first hopped into a helicopter I was spiraling into the ground in no time flat. But wow, flying that jet using the joystick is just a joygasim. Give the demo a download and see if you like it. If you've already got it you can usually find me over on the "Official CAD/8-Bit server".

Lastly there's Destroy all Humans. Or as I like to call it, Invader Zim the game. Mainly because one of the lead voices IS done by the Zim guy. Also it's quite a funny little game.

"Now Crypto I want you to test your speed against these bovine quadrupeds."
"You want me to race COWS?"
"Hmm.. Yes."
"Why?"
"I... don't know."
"This is the stupidest thing you've ever asked me to do."
"I agree, well then off you go."

You get to blow up fancy things like the white house and people. Telepathy is also a riot. Much fun was had even if it was a short game.

Also am I the only person who thinks Killer 7 is crap? You ride the rails like Time Crisis only.. Without the light gun, boring. Dress it up in all the fancy style you want. At the end of the day it still sucks.

Thursday, July 7, 2005 7:46 PM - Tablet or Tablet PC?

Been getting a lot of questions on which kind of tablets work better. The short answer is that the Tablet PC works well for me but maybe not for others.

Main reason I got a tablet PC is portability. I can do the whole comic in one spot. Another is I can see where I draw. Smaller tablets never worked at all. Moving a little on your pad causing a large movement on screen threw me off.

The down side is compared to say this is a bit of sensitivity. The angle of your pen matters and you need to calibrate it to yourself. Also there's the price. You're gonna find regular tablets a LOT cheaper.

So! Portability = Tablet PC, More accurate = Tablet

Saturday, July 2, 2005 2:05 AM - Desktop dealie

Oh and duuurr, forgot this.
Friday, July 1, 2005 7:26 PM - Conneticon is made of people!

One last con to mention later this month. Connecticon July 15th-17th, 2005 West Hartford, Connecticut. Nix and I will be driving down there, as well as a butt load of other comic peeps. No really, a lot of us. Ze Stuff featuring Pierre and friends will also coming down for all your shirt needs.

Sorry I've been meaning to talk about a few things. Firstly I'm really loving this tablet PC. Taking a page from gabe I've put up a little place to dump sketches to. I've tried a few programs with it, all do some things great but there's not one that does it all.

Alias Sketch Book
is just fantastic to play around in. It easily does sketching the best. So I'll be sticking with this for some time. One thing it doesn't do is compatibility so everything saves to one layer. How ever I just tried the AS2 demo and it does save to PSD. It doesn't do much else though, so I probably won't upgrade.

For colouring I'm really impressed with Corel Painter. It handles everything as if you were really using real art materials. Colour mixing that takes in to acount practically EVERYTHING else on your canvas. But I'm such a newbie at it. So if I'm gonna do any digital painting it'll probably be in photo shop. Until I learn how to use painter a little more.

So past getting rid of paper, my techniques for making the comic haven't changed. In fact the last few comics have been tablet drawn. No difference, eh? For me I am very happy to say good bye to paper. Edit undo is my lord and savior.
Saturday, June 25, 2005 4:41 PM - Otakon

Oh, I'll be doin' the Otakon dealie too. August 19th-21st, 2005 Baltimore, MD. Those panels are always a crap load of fun.

Friday, June 24, 2005 2:21 PM - Cons

I'm doing a small talk at the Walper Terrace Hotel in Kitchener for Can Write. This Saturday (25th) from 1:15-2:15pm.

I'll be doing two other Canadian cons this year. The good people at Northern Anime in Oshawa, Ontario have me on as a guest. So there'll be workshops, panels, and the like. That's July 23rd-24th

Then in august I've booked a table at CN Anime in Toronto. Doing sketches and selling my stuffs. That one is August 26th-28t.

Hope to see you at those :D

Wednesday, June 22, 2005 1:46 PM - Another comic?

Yep. I'll get a wallpaper up a little later tonight.

Once again, the Calivin and Hobbes comic. *I* removed it. Don't worry I'm not getting sued or anything. I just didn't care for it. It's over here under extra if ya really want it.

Now to give Conker a whirl before I pass out! :D
Monday, June 20, 2005 7:47 PM - Flash Game

Remember that old Splinter Cell comic? Fresh Blood made a totally bad ass game out of it.
Monday, June 20, 2005 7:26 AM - New Comic

I love how the comic always changes at the last minute. Fucking flu. Check back on Wednesday for another comic. Not Tuesday, no. That day is Conker Day.
Friday, June 17, 2005 7:51 PM - Micropayments

If you're wondering what that Scott Mcloud comic was you can check it out here. The subject matter is sorta poorly timed. As the current comic sucks ass. It'll be replaced on Monday. : D

Few other things I'd like to mention quickly. One there was some I met over E3 about a charity.. I lost your card, shot me an email. Bingo! It's Get well Gamers. It's a lot like Childs Play only a year round occasion. If you'd like to help it's over here.

Also Movie Comics is back from the land of wizards and Fairies. So you can groove to that again.

VG Cats got nominatied for a number of awards over at WCCA.Winning any of these awards remains to be seen. I just hope Daily Dinosaur Comics clears house.

Lastly, love the warm weather.. hate the bugs. I'm like candy to them!
Monday, June 13, 2005 3:19 AM - New Comic

New comic, yeah.. Drew two strips. A Scott Mcloud one and this one. Feeling like I shoulda gone with the bandwagon one.

Got some things to mention but I'll do that tomorrow.. bed time.
Friday, June 10, 2005 4:59 PM - Tablet PC Sketchtastic

Sorry, comic on Monday. Been occipied getting that Tablet PC working. Alias Sketch book is pretty fun though. I just got it working with photoshop and flash. Network trouble is next. :<

Super thanks to Hawk for helping in shipping it to me.
Tuesday, May 31, 2005 2:47 PM - Customs.. Hate.

Dear Canadian Customs,

My Tablet PC has been stopped by you three times. The import costs were resolved the first time. I understand it's fun to play with but I kinda want it.

Up yours,
S-Dawg McRams.
Tuesday, June 7, 2005 12:16 PM - Advent Rising

So as of late I've been playing and enjoying a few of Majesco games. Outstanding games like Psychonauts and Phantom Dust. So when Advent Rising came out I was in "Gotta have it." mode. Might have jumped the gun a little.

Lets first talk about the good things about the game. The concept is that humans were the first race in the galaxy, and posses hidden powers. You upgrade these powers and attributes as you progress the game, a lot like an RPG. When you're fully powered up you're basically a God.

The music is orchestral and absolutely fantastic. Has the same memorable charm Halo did. As well the voice acting is top notch. Very well acted and helped you feel for the characters.

Now the Bad. This game has bugs. A lot of them. I'm really not sure what happened here past it being rushed to the shelves. In game I found the following problems that happened quite frequently. Stuck in the ground, clipped through the level, lost camera control, lost gun control, spawning errors, and total game crash.

One spawning error was pretty funny. There's a part where you escape with ONE computer player. Only in my game it didn't place him correctly. Instead of him spawning once, he spawned ENDLESSLY. Before long I had a massive ARMY of AI players. THEY finished the level, not me, THEY DID.

While the music and sound is great in this game, it doesn't work at times. Music will cut out now and again, voices will be totally inaudible, and sound will outright stop.

Powering up your character is great but it's also too easy. You do so not by defeating enemies but instead by the mere use of your power. So you can just keep rapidly pressing your attack until it's at the mastery level. As well I found myself becoming too powerful. Once I had all my powers the game became quite easy.

Lastly the controls, specifically targeting. The idea behind the targeting is flicking of your camera to target enemies. So let me say this. Targeting controls on your camera controls is bad. VERY BAD. Moving your character through a field of enemies and objects fast becomes a wild ride of the Herky-Jerky Camera Coaster. You'd always target something you didn't want, and what you did want was destroying you. About halfway through the game I found out that you can turn the sensitivity down. This made it bearable but it's also still a bad idea.

So yeah, if you're planing on playing it here are a few things to know. Turn your sensitivity down for the targeting. Know that most of the bugs are in the first half of the game. It does get better.

They're planing two more games in this series. I do hope these issues are fixed, because I sincerely think there's a good game to be had here. Though with all these bugs it just cheapens it. Best of luck to the people involved.

Monday, June 6, 2005 4:59 PM - Two comics this week.

New comic, and another one on Thursday. Cause I was stupid and drew two. I'll rant on Advent Rising a little later today or tomorrow. Basically rent this game first if you're thinking of buying it.

Edit: Avatar as requested.

Forgot to thank the people over at Sogen con last week. So yeah thanks for the fun time. And that you to all those who made that drive to come and see me. I know it's a long one. So thanks!
Tuesday, May 31, 2005 11:37 AM - New Comic

New comic, I am aware I didn't draw the general exactly correct. Don't care. I'll probably redaw him some time real nice in a wallpaper. Sorry for the delay. I'll finish CGing it tomorrow. Back to sweet sleep.
Friday, May 27, 2005 1:19 AM - E3 Tidbits

New Comic, based on semi-factual events. I did meet Myimoto but didn't pee on him. However I'm sure a little pee came out. Towards the end of Thursday and hanging around with Mellisa, Gabe, and Mike. Fun times were had. I've also fallen in love with Tablet PCs.

So yeah, E3. Betcha aren't tired of hearing about that! Well nuts to you, jerk-face! I'll just sum everything up as best I can.

Best game of the show was without a doubt, Zelda. It's the Zelda we know and love, with beautiful graphics and outstanding gameplay. But really was was to love was the booth. IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE. I've got a video of the whole thing and post it when I find a place to store it.

Edit: Here are the vids.

A close runner up is Starcraft Ghost. The multiplayer in this game is going to be fun beyond words. The level they had showing operated like a mix between Tribes and UT. Select a Terran unit type and jump into battle. Firebats had to be the most fun. To win, complete your objective... WHILE FLYING YOUR FREAKING BASE. Awesome.

DS had an awesome showing this year. Nintendogs is about as cute as you can get. Funniest feature I've heard is when you've got your DS closed, they'll actually bark at each other. As well as interact when the game is active. Another great game was Viewtiful Joe DS. That's really because I'm a fanatic for that series. I hear that new Mario game was good too but I forgot to try it.

Two really weird games there. Condemned which I can only assume is interactive bum fights. Because all you (a bum yourself) seem to do is beat up other bums with pipes and sheets of metal. The other is Mario : Dance Dance Revolution. I SHIT YOU NOT. Crazy.

System I'm most excited about? X-Box 360 AND Revolution. Why? Halo and Super Smash Bros ONLINE. PS3 doesn't have anything I want.

Hell you barely saw ANY of these new consoles unless you went to the press spots. Any other hands on were done behind closed doors. 360 was the only one showing any real presence.

Super big thanks to Tycho for saying hi through the MOBS of people around Penny Arcade's spot. There were a couple of meetu ps and interviews I totally missed. E3 is crazy like that. So most of the places I was suppose to meet up with people never happened. Alf got one done though.

Well.. so much for a short rant. Probably talk more later. For now me tired.

Here, enjoy the funniest thing on the internet.. CRAB BATTLE!
Tuesday, May 24, 2005 2:52 PM - Not recommended.

I'm not sure why I slept 3 hours a night all week but, the result is sleeping 15 hour nights after. Comic will be up a little later. Apologies yo.
Tuesday, May 17, 2005 7:40 AM - E3 Meetups and Sogen Con

So yeah this is my first E3. I have no idea what to expect let alon the layout of the place. If you're trying to meet up with me there are a few places to check out.

Majesco's booth around 3:00
NCSoft
booth around 1:00 on Wed or around 3:30 on Thurs.
Anywhere around Nintendo. Follow the trail of drool.
And whenever that SNK signing is. Guy who does the art will be there with sketches and one of them shall be mine, oh yes.
And naturally bugging the hell out of the PA guys at Ubisoft.

I can't update this news box from the hotel unfortunately. So further meeting times, updates, pictures, news, and my ranting will be made at this post.

And right after It's Sogen Con, baby. I'll have posters 'n' whatnot, and as usual sketches are free. Please bring a reference if it's something crazy hard.

Sunday, May 15, 2005 11:12 PM- New layout

Brand new layout. Then I fucked things up royaly.. However Comrade Was super fucking cool in helping me fix it. Thanks!

Couple of changes from the last one. New logo, now I don't risk being sued by Namco! Nope none at all. The sprite and cameo sections are gone. I was just so bad about keeping these up to date. As well the Avatar section has been trimmed out for better load time. Lastly this site is now mozilla friendly.

Oh and the forum is back. Though in truth it's been back since December but never released. It needed some down time.

Lastley THERE IS A NEW LJ FEEED. I'm runing this one unlike the last one. Which I may add continues to screw up. So yeah, drop it like a bad habbit and add this one if ya want to.

And again, E3 and Sogen con Next week. See ya there!
Monday May 09, 2005 6:37 AM - Halo, Psycho, and E3.. Oh my!

New comic, I will be bringing the CS comic back. Response for taking it down was kinda big, so hey, I guess if you like it! : /

Few quick site stuff. First is we've got posters again! You can pick one up over here if you're so inclined. Also ZeAds is running a little survey. Emails in the survey also get raffled for free stuff at ZeStuff. So hey, if you've got a moment or two why not, right?

Oh and E3 Meetups. I'll know more about where to meet up when I'm there. So check for a post on either Tuesday or Wednesday of E3 on that.

On to the rambling...

First up is Halo. Been playing the new maps and changes in gameplay this past week. I love them. The grenade changes have been very well received. They're useful now! Really changes game for the better. My only grief now is again the magnums. I miss my auto aim :( My other gripe was proved wrong. That is of course cheating. I haven't seen ANY of it since the patches. Awesome. Now the maps!

Turf is a fucking dream to play on. Works so well on so many game types. It's a circular level with open and close quarter areas. The perfect map.

Containment is just fucking HUGE and perfect for vehicle games. Also gave birth to the noble sport of SPECTARDOME! Way a top the tower of red base.

Sanctuary is a great addition for quick 2 team CTF or Bomb matches. The rocks on either side make for a gladiator style gauntlet run past the turrets. The center ring also makes for great King of the hill matches.

Warlock is a CRAZY little map. Four teams competing is a variety of extremely fast paced combat. Foursomes never felt so good... Um in a totally manly way.. Wait that sounds worse. Drat.

So these new maps kick a whole lot of ass. If you play a lot of Halo 2 I do recommend buying 'em. And guess what? Bungies got even MORE coming out! <3 Bungie.

Second Game I've put some time in with is Psychonauts. As you probably know, it's by the same guy who did all of those Lucas Arts classics like Grim Fandango and Full Throttle. The super funny, Tim Schafer. The art team has also been carried over from some of those games. This is what makes the game great.

As a platformer, it's not really polished. Not to say the controls are bad by any means. I just found some problems here and there but damn.. Art, story, script, and voice acting (Lead guy is voice by Zim for crying out loud!) totally make up for ANY downside. GOGGOLOR! This game is more of a really funny story than anything else. And that's just fine by me.

A little short though but absolutely hilarious, I recommend at least renting this game.
